How Personal Responsibility Can Change Your Life

All the choices we have made up to this point in our lives have created the exact life we live at this very moment. Personal responsibility is a sensitive topic these days, but here’s an easy way to reveal how it exists in our lives:

Take a look around you. The room you are in is a result of decisions you made. If you are at work, you accepted that position. If you are lounging in a room of your home, you chose to live there. Does someone live there with you, a roommate perhaps, or a spouse? You decided to share your life with them. If you have children, their very existence is a result of choices you made.

What about your body? How much of your body’s present condition is a result of your choices? It is easy to admit you are responsible for your clothes or hairstyle, but what about your weight, muscle tone, and overall health?

The point is to recognize that our life is what we make it. Accepting personal responsibility for everything in our life is the first step towards creating a dream life.

Our power to create our life is obvious when we step back and look at some of the key features of our lives. Our ability to create has attracted and manifested all that surrounds us. If we don’t focus our creative powers, we end up with circumstances in our life that we aren’t satisfied with.

We have this ability to create because we are not separate from the force behind all of creation. We are part of the force that gives rise to all that is. We use our power to create whether or not we are aware of it. Our attention and energy are how we fuel our ability to manifest, so we get more of whatever we focus on.

If we spend your time festering in anger and hostility, we will find ourselves surrounded by conflict. If we spend our days complaining about a lack of money, we will manifest more of that same scarcity. Likewise, if we focus attention on beauty, we notice beautiful things everywhere. If we make the feeling of gratitude into a habit, we find even more to be grateful for in life, and so forth.

The first step to creating the life of our dreams is to recognize that we created the life we have now. By acknowledging that we are responsible for the state of our life, we rein in unfocused energy and creative power. When we embrace personal responsibility, we let go of emotions that drain our energy, such as blame. Only then can we begin to focus that recovered energy and use it to create life changes.

Our ability to manifest things in our life is not necessarily precise, and it is certainly not instantaneous. Life goals such as finding a partner, moving to a place we love, or building our own successful business can take years to manifest. Yet when we accept personal responsibility, focus our energy, and set clear goals and objectives, it is far more likely that our lives will evolve as a close match to the vision we have for ourselves.
